Caring Tips

Is it safe?

Yes. It is very safe. There are no violent twists, cracks or crunches and it is practiced on everyone from children to the very elderly with great success.

How often should I receive a massage?

The answer here depends on the reasons for receiving the massage. If a client comes for some injury relief, and to relieve chronic tightness that is interfering with their daily lives in some way, weekly sessions may be necessary for a while to build on each session's improvement in their relief and healing. For those who use massage as preventive care and managing the daily stress in their lives, once a week or in alternative week are about the norm. They may shorten the time between massages during stressful periods. Some come more often just because they enjoy it that much.

When should I get a massage?

It is good to get a massage anytime. You do not need to wait until you're injured or stressed. Our therapy works as preventive care for a person's body and mind. Instead of waiting until your back hurts from overwork or stress, or the headaches that start at the back of your skull begin to pound, or the stress of every day life makes you want to pop your cork, get a massage before these things happen.

A regular massage is a wonderful way to cope with stress, both physical and emotional, and to keep it from causing discomfort or harm to your body.

When should I not get a massage?

There are several contraindications for receiving a massage. It is essential for you to inform our therapists of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you have any of the following conditions, you are not advised to get a massage:

  • Fever
  • Inflammation
  • High blood pressure
  • Infectious diseases
  • Broken bone
  • Skin problems
  • Cancer

The guidelines here are pretty straightforward. You don't want the massage to make an underlying medical condition worse, and you don't want to pass anything contagious to the massage therapist. If you're unsure about whether a minor condition should prohibit you from getting a massage, consult us before your appointment.

What should I wear during massage therapy?

For a full body massage, most people undress completely. However, you may choose to wear underwear. Our massage therapist will give you privacy to undress, and you will be covered with a sheet or blanket at all times except the area being worked on.

How long will a massage therapy last?

The 120-minute session is recommended for those wishing to experience an in-depth full body integrated massage, during which our therapists can make sure all parts of the body get the treatment they need with plenty of time for passive stretches.

How will I feel after a massage therapy?

Most people feel calm and relaxed after a massage therapy. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during a massage, it is recommended you drink plenty of water following your massage.

How can I pay?

Each treatment can be paid for by cash or direct bank deposit (please ask at time of making appointment).

But I've had this problem for years!

Massage has a remarkable success record in treating very long-term chronic pain. One client had even suffered with back pain for many years before seeing us, within 4 visits they were feeling better.

Anything else I need to know?

You will be reminded to drink LOTS of water during the day of treatment and also the next day, because massage increases the rate of metabolic by-products (toxins) into circulation. The water will help to flush your system.
